Editor Development / Command Line Tools
« on: 13 Jul 2015, 13:26 »
I know I've seen the idea of breaking up AGS into command line tools given at least a passing reference in the past, but has anyone ever made a serious attempt to do this?  ...decoupling the editor from the compiler/linker, and so on?  I think the advantages are obvious (and have been discussed: automated builds, editor independence, all leading to easier-to-implement cross platform development environments, and so on).  Has anyone gone beyond the conception stage with this idea?

So, I finally saw the final installment of the Hobbit.  I didn't hate it.  Any other fans?

Advanced Technical Forum / Keyboard does not work
« on: 15 Aug 2014, 20:52 »
Well, it happened again.  Windows 7 installed updates this morning, and now my keyboard no longer works in the engine.  Is anyone else having this problem?

EDIT:  I've confirmed that this problem exists in every AGS game that I've tried, including my GOG-installed Samaritan Paradox.  About a week or two ago I posted that KB2973201 was causing this problem.  It's no longer on my machine, but perhaps the fix was included in a later update.

Beginners' Technical Questions / Sound Doesn't Play
« on: 07 Aug 2014, 16:31 »
Sigh.  Forgive me for posting what might be a really simple, oft-treated question...  I searched the forum, but I didn't see a solution.

I'm still a little mystified by the sound system in AGS.  In my mind, this should always play a sound:

aSoundFX.Play(eAudioPriorityHigh);

But it doesn't.  What am I missing here?

Critics' Lounge / Trying some new techniques
« on: 12 Feb 2014, 00:07 »
This afternoon, I was playing around with a few ideas for making more "realistic," yet painted, rooms.  Any thoughts or critiques on this?   There isn't any real design -- just a chair in a room (zoomed to 640x400).

Has anyone else seen the Hobbit TDOS yet?

I took some time today to distill the information discovered while working on Radiant's walkable area "bug" (posted to this forum last month: original thread) into a WIKI page.  Although it could still use some editing, hopefully this page will help designers debug path-finding problems in the future.

The Rumpus Room / Challenge: North Korean Photoshop Fun
« on: 15 Oct 2013, 12:19 »
In light of the most recent North Korean Photoshop fail, Slate has offered this challenge.

Anyone up for this?  Does he need his own AGS game?  :-D
