With all of the classic creators coming out with new work, I thought I'd point out one more who's doing so -- only it isn't an adventure game, it's the new Pixar movie. I was watching the latest trailer for the film Brave, and saw the name of Steve Purcell (of Sam n' Max fame) listed as both a writer and a co-director.

I'd seen him in the credits of Cars, but that seemed like a relatively minor contribution. This seems like a bigger deal, and the movie looks well done, so I wanted to point it out to any Purcell fans here. Here's a teaser excerpt. Film's out June 22.

I think I'll go see it! Specially if it's got Steve Purcell on the team!

Cool, I had no idea he was involved with PIXAR at all.

Incidentally if any Sam & Max fans haven't yet seen the animated series, they're very funny and surreal - nothing like the computer games but great nonetheless.  (As far as I know you can still only get them imported as a Region-1 disc.)

I admit I didn't like the looks of Brave's characters a lot, but the story seems to be okay as far as the trailers can be trusted.
And *now* I have to see it anyway ;) No idea the man is in the film biz now!

I knew he was at Pixar and I saw him listed as a 'director' on this Pixar art blog but... so heavily involved... with such a spiffy looking movie.
Awww man, if there was a Pixar movie fully conceived and directed by Purcel I would DROWN IN HAPPY-ENDORPHINS.

Great news about Purcell, writer and co-director eh? I wonder if they've got him in the do the gags?

I'm also looking forward to this as it's the first feature film to be fully mastered in Dolby Atmos, which is quite the eargasm btw! I was lucky enough to attend a demonstration a few weeks back, really immersive stuff.
