Photoshop Fridays
« on: 06 Dec 2018, 14:42 »
A fun weekly themed photo manipulation thread in which members on the forum make Photoshops of a source photo or image, and the winner chooses a new photo or image for the next round.

I might work like this:

Every Friday a new photo or image is posted by someone in which people are invited to manipulate in some way during over the weekend and into the following week. People can post their pieces up to  Wednesday, then people will vote over Wednesday and Thursday with the winner having to pick the next photo or image on the Friday, and the process repeats.

The photo or images can be anything, from media/current affairs/history.. whatever. The theme of the Photoshop can be just random, or set with a subject, for example people might have to stick to a subject on an image or photo.

Photoshops of this kind are usually quick things that take a few mins, and often the cheapness of the manipulation is humorous in of itself, so don't worry about having to spend lots of time with detailing, its just for laughs.

Although I say any photo/image is game, please at least try to consider the subject image or photo you are setting, and consider what edits people are likely to do, likewise the people making the Photoshops might also be considerate.
Photoshops are often edgy, but as with anything else on the forum if anyone or mods find anything inappropriate then so be it.

What do folks think?   I could kick things off this Friday and post an image of some kind for people to go wild with, or if anyone else wants to go first fire away.

NOTE:

Although I mention Photoshop a lot, the edits can be done in any software you like, dose not have to be Photoshop.

You can post multiple entries if you want

Its OK to post Animated Gifs of your manipulations, but only post static images when setting the subject.

Hi, ok I will get things swinging then, by the way although I mention Photoshop a lot, the edits can be done in any software you like, dose not have to be Photoshop.

Regarding timezone I am GMT, but we can keep the times loose, as long as someone posts a new image over a weekend following a Friday that's fine, if its a case that the winner isn't able to post or simply forgets to post then we can figure out another system as we go.

OK here is the first one to get things kicking off as inspired by one of my all time fave websites "Kim Jon Il Looking at things"

Re: Photoshop Fridays
Hey creamy, yup I really didnt want it so voting was necessary either, but I cant in all honesty think of any other way to choose who gets to choose the next subject.  I would rather not have votes, so if anyone else can think of a system where ever Friday (or so) someone posts one subject.

I mean we could go with first to post a subject from 0gmt on Friday?, but what happens if two people post a subject at the same time, also its not fair to other people on other timezones to get the opportunity to post an interesting subject.

I had thought of all this, but concluded the vote is seems the only way

alternate ideas anyone?

Dear Jack

poll how make i?  :(

Now experiment will i on post first.. hrmm

Instead of voting for the winner you could vote whose idea gets picked next if there are multiple.

Re: Photoshop Fridays
but that means within a week not only do people have to post their pieces on the subject, but also post idea for the next subject?..   well, its possible but sounds even more messy.

How about this, we simply, by some random method, pick a nick out of the all the people who submitted pieces for one week,  if the random choice picks the same nick 2 weeks in a row then that person can submit pieces for the next subject but is automatically not included in the list of voters for the next subject.

I think this will strive to ensure most people get a chance through randomness, and that one person dose not keep getting to choose the subject too many times in a row. Also takes the competitiveness out of it (which i never really wanted) and puts focus solely on fun

A another way, if you don't want the voting, is that the person that posted the topic, picks the "winner" by simply choosing the entry he likes best/fits best with what he had in mind...

since friday is over some time and before the forum goes down again because of the awesomeness in this thread (or because of tycho spamming the server with new awesome imagery until the server denies service...) we should get the voting started. everybody only one vote, vote on the image you liked the most this round.
The person with the most votes gets to chose the next PF image  ;-D

Hilarious entries everyone.  I wasn't sure if we were voting still or just going with other folks suggestions,  anyway OK so since we are voting then I vote for josiah1221 Thumbs up, because every time i see it i envisage them hiding their real guns inside them, seems like there is just about enough space! :D

EDIT.  selmiak yea there was a day or two left for entries,  perhaps you thought you posted the image 2 weeks ago or so?.. anyway perhaps its best we get the voting + new image going early since I guess next week many of you will be with family..etc

On that note seasons greetings all and I hope you all have a decent holiday seasons.

EDIT.  Ok so I noticed a bunch voted for me,  but not for the same image,  shall we say the votes only count per-image and not per-member ..  I say this since I spammed the forum so many times with entries its a bit unfair to others who only posted one.

EDIT 3:  up at the moment it looks like a tie breaker between a few members lol.. what happens now? shall we table a new motion to discus methods of picking a winner in case of tie-breakers lol

   ;)

I was going to vote for the one which is best and has the fewest edits, but that's just as hard to judge. Maybe next week we can consider this because TMA will have unconfiscated his photoshop.

the one who won the last round and chose the starting image should set the winning conditions, if per image or per person. But he/she should do so in the post with the starting image (which I didn't).
Since I chose the current image, as I said, I'm in favour of per person just to get more entries. If they all suck you won't get any votes, no matter what, but if they are all great chances are you get some votes.
But for now, well, who won then and gets to chose a new image? Seems like all votes by now are on different images. If I, as the starter or this round, gets to chose one, it's probably back to TMA... and it's friday already...
btw, somehow I knew this would happen and wanted the voting to start early ;)

Re: Photoshop Fridays
Well ok , if only for the benefit of getting another one started i will go next,  the next winner can be chosen by voting for best image, and whoever wins that can choose their own method.  But to be honest your suggestion of voting per person makes me feel bad about posting so many and less likely to, i mean if we all settle on that suggestion as a permanent solution to choosing a winner. Anyway we can see how it goes over the next few weeks to see what people like/works best, assuming the thread is still going by then.

So here is this Fridays Photohop Friday!

hehe, I really considered setting up a fluid sim just for this image for a moment, then considered the name of the thread and searched the internet for watersplashes and shopped this in ;)

Enrique: "Mr. Trump?, I explicitly said on the phone NO to nut based snacks"

Trump: "Your crossing my wall again, Rico"

Alternate:
Enrique: "But Mr. President,  you are really spoiling us with these Roche"

Trump: "Wall Enrique,  wall."

I vote for josiah1221's picture because it's simple and pure, and there's something strangely magnetic about it.

I'm split bettween josiah1221 and jack...  (roll) So I won't unsplit my vote, unless it there's a tie (which doesn't look like it'll happen at this point).  (laugh)

Like this?

Spoiler: ShowHide
In case anyone's wondering, both pairs of eyes are photoshopped from pictures of Jim Carrey.  :-D

I was trying to do a thing with long cat which never came out right, and I just couldn't think of anything else, I think its partly since I don't know the show,

anyhoo, lol really great ideas I never would have though of from you lot!..  Its tough to vote on this one

For me its a tie between lorenzo or jack's pulp fiction.

I never thought to incorporate previous photoshops, that would be in itself an interesting challenge lol

There's something uniquely funny about Samuel L Jackson just over 3 feet tall.

But I will vote for lorenzorro.

I was a bit worried at first but thankfully a lot of good entries came from it. :)

I'm gonna vote Jack's Pulp Fiction as well. I can't help but snicker every time I look at "3 foot tall Samuel L Jackson"  (laugh) (Not to mention the one with Trump... looks like something got shoved up his arse!)
Also, Lorenzorro is definitely a close second ;)

I thought about doing a pic of them fleeing the opened Ark from Indiana Jones, but didn't have time to do it.

I like josiah1221's turtle. So subtely funny :)

@cat: I want to see that. Please enter the next PS friday :)

just for your interest, so that none of these ingenious images get lost I created this:
http://ags-ps-friday.bplaced.net/?
all coded with glorious 8kb of php/html and 4kb of css. The images are the biggest files on that server. If someone wants to paint a header and boost up the filesize of that website, just go ahead :)

If there's still time, I'd like to vote for lorenzo's Zorro picture as well.  All entries were well done.  My next vote would have been for the Pulp Fiction image by Jack, followed by the Ninja Turtle masks by Blondbraid.
