The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

King's Quest II was the sequel to the original King's Quest game designed by Roberta Williams. Several people were discontented with this sequel, believing the puzzles were illogical, and the storyline was too sparse. The King's Quest II: Romancing the Stones remake includes additional storyline, puzzles, enhanced artwork, digital music, lip-synced character speech portraits, fully narrated audio track (over 3,800 lines), atmosphere, depth, and more -- basically, the whole nine yards!

AGS Panel Review

"Sierra's KQ2 was rather lacking, but this remake brings it up to date with new graphics, an original soundtrack, and a rewritten plot and puzzles that make for a very enjoyable gaming experience."

Solid game. Seamless transition between puzzles made it nearly impossible to stop playing. It was always clear what needed to get done - no aimless wandering about. There was a bit too much about women being obsessed with youth and looking beautiful for my taste.

It's one of the best adventure games I've played. It puts Kings Quest II right there up with Kings Quest VI for me. I loved it.

This game is absolutely amazing, innovative, charming, all of the above and more. I don't think I've ever had as much fun and been more immersed in the plot of a game than I have when I played this game. It's worthy of all 6 AGS awards it was given and quite possibly more. I enjoyed every one of the 5-6+ hours I spent playing it.

Now I'm afraid to go play the original because I know it's going to be worse!

This was one of the most charming adventure games that I have come across, with many clever improvements over the original. This is one of those games which ends well; it brings closure to all the loose ends. However, the beginning and middle are also gripping and entertaining. This is an excellent game to share. My younger sister and I played through Tierra's KQ1 prior to this game, and this one was so rich in its complexity and yet, so well designed, that she put the pieces together on many puzzles faster than I (she wasn't even 12). Truly a classic tale extolling many virtues and illuminating the consequences of many vices. The Greek Poets would be pleased...if they weren't dead.

What a fantastic remake of an early adventure game! This remake of King's Quest II is my favorite King's Quest game. It has been so long since I played the original Sierra version of this game that I barely remember it but I know that I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as this remake.

The story is very well written with very interesting characters. I can't say that I was that impressed with the introduction, as it was a bit slow and rather sappy, but the rest of the game was great. The 3-D sequence during the introduction was good. All the game graphics were good. The music was very good at setting the moods and I thought the voice acting was good. Some of it was very good. The puzzles were mostly logical and, most of the time I didn't have too much problem with them. And often there was more than one way to solve them. Do save often since, being based on a Sierra game, there are plenty of ways to die. There are quite a few entertaining easter eggs in the game also. They should be especially amusing to those who are familiar with the old Sierra adventure games.

Great game. Play it!

Mark my words! Someday when they will finally get the copyright of the old classic Sierra games, we will then finally again see what real adventures game really are.

This is what adventure games are all about. They did better then the Sierra did.

What can I say, it's simply great! There are a number of very memorable sequences in there (my fave being the dwarf ambush). The music is awesome. The puzzles are challenging without getting frustrating. And I really like seeing old elements back with a whole new function, such as the mallet and stake, and the small ponds. As I said, simply great!

This is quite simply the best ags game I have played. It honestly rivals many professional adventures on the market. The story was well-written and dark (I've gotten tired of comedy games) and had some great plot twists. I think there were some dead ends and walking dead puzzles but they can be avoided if you're using your brain. The music was great, and the graphics were... incredible. This is a must-play for any faadventurer.

Absolutely amazing! This is definitely the best AGS game and much, much better than the original.

This game truely touched me, being a big Sierra fan myself. The graphics, gameplay, animations and colorful backgrounds are simply breathtaking. This game was made so professionaly and with so many details. It greatly inspires beginners and give us the courage to accomplish our own cool adventure game. I definately can't wait for your QFG2: Trial by Fire remake, my vote is a 10/10!

Simply amazing. The use of closeups in this game is brilliant, and the plot is about 1002% better than that of the original. I strongly reccomend this to anyone.

This game is really nice. I give it four thumbs up as well :P Anwyays, Cadbury Wookie totally redid the story (it fits though) and makes the game a totally new game. It basically rivals King's Quest VI
